Chagos: The Lost Archipelago |

| In 1965, Britain took control of the Chagos Islands from its then-colony, Mauritius, and evicted the entire population. The United Nations' highest court says Britain's occupation is illegal, and now, 50 years later, a boat of former islanders sent by the government of Mauritius has arrived back. They are the first people to step foot there without a British military escort, and without seeking British authorisation. Andrew Harding reports from the archipelago on a long-awaited homecoming. | |||||
