    Beethoven

    Italian pianist Riccardo Schwartz was born in Milan in 1986 and completed his studies at the Conservatorio of Milan as a student of acclaimed musicians such as Riccardo Risaliti, Leonardo Leonardi and Annibale Rebaudengo. He graduated with Honourable Mention and proceeded his piano studies at the Accademia Pianistica of Imola. Throughout his career, he has had the privilege of performing as a soloist under the baton of outstanding conductors, such as Gustav Kuhn and Yuri Temirkanov.

    In this 2018 concert, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra is lead by Canadian conductor and pianist Yannick Nézet-Séguin in a performance of Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 4 in C minor, Op. 43. Born in 1975 in Montréal, Québec, the charismatic young musician was awarded the role of the 11th Principal Conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in 2006.

    Karl Jenkins - The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace

    Fidelio (originally titled Leonore, oder Der Triumph der ehelichen Liebe, which translates to Leonore, or The Triumph of Marital Love), Op. 72, is Ludwig van Beethoven's only opera. This 2018 opera film from the Swiss Theater St. Gallen is based on Jan Schmidt-Garre's highly acclaimed stage production of Beethoven's Fidelio. Otto Tausk conducts the Sinfonieorchester and choir of St. Gallen, as well as many wonderful soloists in a beautifully designed set by Nikolaus Webern.
