	Karl Jenkins' `The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace' will be performed in New York today as part of a series of events to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. This performance was recorded at Cardiff's St David's Hall as part of the composer's 60th birthday celebrations. Conducted by the composer himself, it features the Welsh National Opera orchestra, four choirs and various solos.

The German-born conductor, who became a Dutch citizen through naturalisation, was chief conductor at the Dutch National Opera, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra before he was finally knighted for his services to the Dutch music landscape.

This psychological framework is explored by director Mariano Nante, setting pianist Alexandre Tharaud in a film inspired by the universe of Tarkovski.
