At the time of their composition, Beethoven was already locked in himself by his deafness. This deeply affected his relationships with others and the world. This psychological framework is explored by director Mariano Nante, setting pianist Alexandre Tharaud in a film inspired by the universe of Tarkovski.

    Fuenteovejuna by Gades

    Antonio Gades' last choreographed work, Fuenteovejuna, is a signature piece of purity and precision of Spanish dance. Based on a true event that inspired Lope de Vega to write this classic play in 1619, Fuenteovejuna is about the people of a village in Córdoba ruled by a tyrannical commander whose actions of droit de seigneur, violence and abuse engender their intense hatred.

    Schubert

    Ester Hoppe, Christian Poltéra and Francesco Piemontesi perform Schubert's Piano Trio No. 2, Op. 100 (D. 929) during the International Chamber Music Festival in Bellinzona, Switzerland in 2019. This trio was among the last compositions completed by Schubert and is dated November 1827. It was published in late 1828, shortly before Schubert's death, and first performed in January 1828 to celebrate the engagement of Schubert's friend Josef von Spaun.
