    Beethoven: Symphony No. 6

    The Vienna Philharmonic performs Symphony No. 6 in F major, op. 68 by Ludwig van Beethoven under the direction of Leonard Bernstein. This 1979 concert was filmed in the great hall of Vienna's legendary Musikverein. Beethoven composed his Symphony No. 6 between 1802 and 1808. Nicknamed Pastoral Symphony, this piece is one of the few examples of program music in the work of the German composer.

    Mozart

    Regarded as one of the finest interpreters of Romantic repertoire, Francesco Attesti gave his first recital at age 11 and by the time he was 23 had earned the highest honours in piano from Florence's Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini. In this recording of his 2016 Deeply Mozart concert tour, Attesti performs Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Concertos KV 449 and KV 488 with the Italian OIDA Orchestra and conductor Paolo Belloli.

    In this splendid 2013 concert from the Church of Verbier, Switzerland, Greek violinist Leonidas Kavakos and Chinese pianist Yuja Wang join forces to interpret three sonatas by Johannes Brahms. Leonidas Kavakos rose to fame in 1985, when he became the youngest musician to ever win the first price of the prestigious Sibelius Competition. With Yuja Wang, an accomplished artist at young age herself, he forms a masterful duo of chamber music interpretation.

    Stravinsky

    Few premieres will have been as troublesome as that of Igor Stravinsky's ballet `Le Sacre du Printemps'. The ballet, written for Sergey Diaghilev's Ballets Russes with choreography by Vaslav Nijinsky, tells the story of a young girl that literally has to dance herself to death as a sacrifice to the sun god, but it was not met with much understanding among its 1913's listeners.

    Purcell: King Arthur

    `King Arthur' is about the two kings Arthur and Oswald, who are both after the Holy Grail. In the famous stammer aria, the aloof Oswald melts for the fair Grail keeper Emmeline. When she breaks him the news that her heart belongs to King Arthur, Oswald decides to kidnap her. The competing Kings' struggle ends in a nerve-racking duel. Romantic scenes alternate with fiery fights, and dance plays an important role in this staging of 'King Arthur'.

    Elgar: Concerto for Cello, Op. 85

    For over two decades, the Berlin Philharmonic has celebrated its creation on May 1 with the annual Europakonzert, which in 2010 was held in Oxford. Led by Daniel Barenboim, the orchestra and the young American cellist Alisa Weilerstein, who has attracted widespread attention for her passionate yet precise musicianship, perform a breathtaking rendition of Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto, Op. 85.

    Italian pianist Riccardo Schwartz was born in Milan in 1986 and completed his studies at the Conservatorio of Milan as a student of acclaimed musicians such as Riccardo Risaliti, Leonardo Leonardi, and Annibale Rebaudengo. He graduated with Honorable Mention and continued his piano studies at the Accademia Pianistica of Imola. Here, he performs Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 32, Op. 111.
