    Count Basie - North Sea Jazz

    In 1979, legendary big band leader and pianist Count Basie brought his famous big band to the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague to perform two sets. Basie, whose minimalist pianism and blues-oriented swing style had cemented his popularity as early as the 1930s, was in the midst of a European tour and had recorded his live album 'On the Road' the previous night in Montreux, Switzerland. Here is the second of two sets recorded at the festival in 1979.

    Face au Public

    Chuck Berry (1926-2017). Influenced by jazz and rhythm and blues, he was rock & roll's greatest songwriter, the main shaper of its instrumental voice, one of its greatest guitarists, and one of its greatest performers. In this 1965 Face au Public TV episode, Chuck Berry plays a string of hit songs, including his 1956 smash hit Roll Over Beethoven, Promised Land and Johnny B. Goode. Chuck cuts loose on guitar and the conservative crowd finally gets it.

    Andrea Motis Quintet: Moods

    Spanish jazz singer and trumpeter Andrea Motis has been playing the trumpet and saxophone since her early childhood. After six albums in collaboration with bassist Joan Chamorro, Motis released her first solo album 'Emotional Dance' on Impulse! Records in 2017. In this concert from Jazz Club Moods in Zurich, Switzerland, Motis is accompanied by Joan Chamorro (bass), Josep Traver (guitar), Ignasi Terraza (piano), and Esteve Pi (drums). She demonstrates her mesmerising trumpet style and her inimitable vocals in no less than three languages: English, Catalan, and Portuguese.
