    Jazzahead!

    Among the bands appearing at jazzahead! 2022 is the Kathrine Windfeld Big Band from Denmark. In pianist, composer and arranger Kathrine Windfeld's breathtaking compositions, sophisticated harmonic passages meet driving grooves and poetic ballads. Her 15-piece band effortlessly combines playful precision and enthusiastic power. The trumpeters are André Bak, Rolf Thofte Løkke, and Magnus Oseth; the trombonists are Göran Abelli, Tobias Stavngaard, and Anders Larson.

    Face au Public

    Chuck Berry (1926-2017). Influenced by jazz and rhythm and blues, he was rock & roll's greatest songwriter, the main shaper of its instrumental voice, one of its greatest guitarists, and one of its greatest performers. In this 1965 Face au Public TV episode, Chuck Berry plays a string of hit songs, including his 1956 smash hit Roll Over Beethoven, Promised Land and Johnny B. Goode. Chuck cuts loose on guitar and the conservative crowd finally gets it.

    One of the ensembles appearing at jazzahead! 2022 is Caixa Cubo. This long-standing trio from São Paulo, Brazil, consisting of Henrique Gomide (piano), Noa Stroeter (double bass, electric bass) and João Fidele (drums), has been playing together for over a decade. Caixa Cubo presents a cool contemporary twist to Brazil's infectious 1970s grooves and adds a welcome new chapter to the samba-jazz tradition as a whole.
